QLD PNG Rugby League

Bound by passion. Driven by pride.

Based at Bill Norris Oval, Qld PNG Rugby League proudly represents the Papua New Guinean community through rugby league, culture, and unity. Affiliated with Papua New Guinea Rugby League, the organisation is committed to developing young talent and strengthening community connections through sport.

Established in 2009, the club began its journey competing in the U16 and U20 Pacific & Indigenous Cup Challenge. One of the earliest milestones came when the U20 side held eventual champions Tonga to a thrilling 10-all draw — a remarkable achievement showcasing the team’s talent, determination, and spirit. Coached by John Tongia and managed by Patrick Martin, this squad laid the foundation for the proud legacy that continues today.

In 2011, the club accepted a late challenge against the South Coast Maoris U22 side. With only one week to prepare, the Bris/PNG Invitational team — selected by Tom Adamson and coached by Joey Seeto — delivered an unforgettable 32–0 victory. Backed by passionate PNG supporters, the performance remains one of the club’s most celebrated achievements.

From humble beginnings training at Usher Park in Daisy Hill to now operating from Bill Norris Oval, Qld PNG Rugby League has grown into a strong and respected community club with a vibrant annual calendar of events and competitions.

Each September, the club hosts the exciting Kokomo 9s round-robin tournament, followed by participation in the QPICC Tournament at the end of October, proudly fielding teams across multiple divisions.
