The Papua New Guinea Independence Cultural Day Celebration in Brisbane is a vibrant community festival organised by members and volunteers of the Papua New Guinea Federation Queensland Inc. (PNGFQI). This special event is a platform to showcase our rich cultural heritage through music, dance, and traditional performances.
As a volunteer-led, not-for-profit event, our budget is limited and performance fees are minimal. However, the day offers a valuable opportunity to connect with community, share culture, and be part of a significant milestone in PNG’s history.
Bands, artists, and cultural performance groups who wish to participate in the 2026 celebrations — to be held on Saturday, 12 September 2026 — are kindly asked to complete and return the Performance Application Form by Friday, 14 August 2026.
Forms can be submitted:

We look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion together and thank you for your interest in being part of the day.
